PAUL CONWAY B.A. (Hons) French
EMMY WINNER
WINNER OF x4 BAFTAs
WINNER OF GOLDEN REEL AWARD
Rather than an academic, syllabus-based course, this is more of a “quest” into the film business. My role is that of a friendly guide through the journey, either 1:1 or a small group, via Zoom, improving your English, where applicable, (min IELTS standard), communication skills, including rhythm, pronunciation, intonation and fluency. This will build confidence for the tasks ahead.
My mission is to help you create, develop and evolve your way of thinking, using my knowledge and experience to help you progress into realising your ambition to entering the film business.
Originally I designed this course for students for whom English may not be their first language as I have a background in teaching English, earning a CELTA certificate, but with interest shown from English native speakers, it is accessible to anyone.

Personal Consultancy
As an ADR Supervisor my job is to balance the desires and wishes of the director, while gaining the confidence of the actor to deliver their best possible performance at the same time staying within the parameters of the producer’s budget and time restraints. Communication is everything.
My teaching background (CELTA) and language skills, including a degree in French, have helped immeasurably when dealing with directors and actors for whom English is not their native language, as well as when working abroad.
Think of this as conversational practice, focussed on the movie business using “film vocabulary”. We will look at the nuances of interpersonal communication within this creative world.
Whichever specific department you see as your goal we can look at how to deal with potential generic obstacles while navigating the path, at the same time increasing your skillset.
Experience is a wise teacher. Perhaps I can share that wisdom that you will probably not acquire from film school.
Whether you want a more structured approach, with a timeline from inception of script to final distribution, or dive in and choose from the potential ideas and topics below…
